Alrededor de 124 mil personas, de acuerdo con fuentes oficiales, se manifestaron este sábado en dos mil concentraciones celebradas por toda Francia, que incluyeron bloqueos de carreteras, para protestar contra el alza gubernamental de los impuestos a los carburantes.
Según un balance realizado por el ministro francés del Interior, Christophe Castaner, los manifestantes bloquearon alrededor de 450 carreteras en toda Francia en el marco de las protestas convocadas por los denominados “chalecos amarillos”.
Los manifestantes invadieron carreteras de Francia, pero sobre todo de algunas de las ciudades de Burdeos, Caen, y de París.
Las protestas estuvieron marcadas por numerosos incidentes violentos entre los manifestantes y las fuerzas del orden que se saldaron con al menos 24 detenidos, 47 heridos, tres de ellos gravemente, y una mujer que murió atropellada.
El motivo de la protesta es la política energética del presidente de Francia, Emmanuel Macron, con fuertes subidas de impuestos a los carburantes, que ha provocado un aumento del litro de gasolina sin plomo de 95 octanos que alcanza ya los dos euros (2.12 dólares) en algunas gasolinerías de toda Francia.
Según varias encuestas publicadas la víspera, tres de cada cuatro franceses están de acuerdo con las manifestaciones celebradas este sábado.
La iniciativa popular, bautizada como la protesta de los “chalecos amarillos”, inquietó al gobierno de Macron, quien atraviesa por su momento más bajo de popularidad desde que comenzó su gobierno en mayo del año pasado.
El gobierno ha anunciado esta semana varias ayudas para las familias de menos recursos pero no han calmado la cólera de los automovilistas.
La derecha y la ultraderecha francesa, que lidera la excandidata a la presidencia Marine Le Pen, dieron su apoyo al movimiento surgido espontáneamente y que se ha expandido por Francia a través de las redes sociales.
