En el Gimnasio Multidisciplinario del Centro Universitario de Victoria se puso en marcha este jueves el máximo evento deportivo de la Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT): los Juegos Estatales Interzonas en su edición 2018.

Tamaulipas.- Alrededor de 800 deportistas de los campus Norte, Centro y Sur de la UAT tienen acción en diferentes disciplinas: ajedrez, béisbol, baloncesto, futbol soccer, futbol rápido, voleibol de sala, voleibol de playa, tenis, tenis de mesa, entre otras que se practican en la casa de estudios.
Correspondió al Director de Deportes y Recreación de la UAT, Osiel Fernando Cantú Garza ofrecer palabras de bienvenida a los deportistas universitarios, destacando en su mensaje el permanente respaldo del Rector José Andrés Suárez Fernández por impulsar el deporte entre la juventud universitaria para contribuir a su formación integral.
El magno evento reúne a estudiantes deportistas de las facultades y unidades académicas, integrados en los equipos representativos de las diferentes sedes de la casa de estudios, lo que permite seguir trabajando en los equipos selectivos que representarán a la UAT en la próxima Universiada y otros eventos nacionales.
En este marco se llevó a cabo la premiación de los equipos que resultaron ganadores de la edición 2017 de los Juegos Interzonas, sobresaliendo la zona centro (que también integra al Campus de Ciudad Mante) con la mayor parte de los trofeos en las diferentes disciplinas.
Con la representación del Rector José Andrés Suárez Fernández, estuvo el Secretario de Extensión y Difusión, Ulises Arredondo Llanos, quien expresó el mensaje inaugural, ante la asistencia del Director del Instituto del Deporte Tamaulipeco, Carlos Fernández Altamirano.
Estuvieron también Mauricio Pimentel Torres, Oscar Parra Durazo y Oscar Garza Pérez, respectivamente, Subdirectores de Deportes de las zonas sur, centro y norte de la UAT; además del Director de Infraestructura Deportiva de la Universidad, Efraín Rangel Torres, entre otras autoridades universitarias.
El Juramento deportivo estuvo a cargo de la campeona de ajedrez, Laura Elena Martínez Bautista; y en este marco inaugural estuvo presente también la esgrimista Úrsula Sarahí González Gárate, quien recibió un reconocimiento de la UAT por su trayectoria como deportista a nivel nacional e internacional.
